FOUND!

We got a call tonight from a woman who said Copper was sleeping on the lawn of her apartment building, and had been for hours.  We immediately got in the car and drove up there, and luckily, he was still there!  He was absolutely exhausted!  We used another dog to get close to him, and were then able to grab him.

YAY!!!!!!

Copper is now safe and sound.  He's a bit shaken up, and very stinky, but otherwise, seems perfectly fine.  He has already gotten a bunch of treats, as well as a good meal.  He's happy to be back at home, and he's thankful for everyone's help and support.

Thank you SO much to everyone who volunteered their time and resources to assist in the search.  I just love happy endings!

Another Sighting!

Copper was spotted again this morning at 9:30am on South Carolina Ave between 13th and Kentucky SE.  Headed towards RFK Stadium.  He's so close to home!  Please let us know if you can help at all today.....this could be the day we get him with your help!

Here is the updated map which includes the most recent sightings.

On The Move

Copper has been moving very quickly since yesterday's sighting at the library.  We received a sighting call at around 6:30 this morning from a woman walking her dog at 15th and Independence.  She said he was running FAST towards Lincoln Park.  This means he crossed back over the river!  Yikes!

Lincoln Park is a very dog-friendly neighborhood, but we have no flyers posted in that area, so we need help!  Since he was moving so quickly, we also need help flyering the areas around Lincoln Park as well.  We need to plaster that whole area so that if someone sees him, they can call us right away.  Please let us know if you are available to help today.

We are so close....let's get Copper home!

Copper Sighted-4/10

At around 6pm, we got a call from a woman who reported seeing him "playing with some kids" at Anacostia Library, then heading toward U St.  We are trying  to call her back to get more info.  Assuming it is Copper, this makes sense because it is close (less than a mile) to where the tracking dog lost Copper's scent at Anacostia Park.

We sent one of the flyering teams out to look at the location where he was spotted but they did not see Copper.

Attached is an updated flyer.  Please let us know if you can print some as we need a supply, especially now that we have a new area to flyer.

The area of this sighting has not been flyered so please let us know if you are able to get out and post some - even just a few help!  If you can't print but can post, that helps too - just an hour of your time would be wonderful!

Have You Seen Copper?

Here is a link to the Copper's map.  The markers show places where Copper was sighted, as well as the start and end points of yesterday's track.  The line shows the path that the tracking dog took.

We are looking for help flyering the neighborhood southeast of the park.  We think that someone may have picked Copper up in a car while he was running around the park, and that he may be in that neighborhood.  Please let us know if you can help print or post flyers!  Even just a few flyers and an hour of your time would be extremely helpful, and much appreciated.

We also need volunteers to check DC area vets and shelters to see if anyone has brought Copper in.

If you have media connections at all, and think you can get Copper's story out that way, please let us know and we will send you a copy of the press release.

New Search Area!

A tracking dog tracked Copper to Anacostia Park this morning, and then lost the scent!  We hadn't thought to flyer this area before, as we had no sightings reported here.  Now, we need help flyering the park, as well as the surrounding neighborhoods.  We think that someone picked Copper up on the side of the road where the tracker lost his scent, and that he may still be in that area.  Please let us know if you can help by emailing memiller86@gmail.com or sheilam@luckydoganimalrescue.org.  Thanks so much to all of you who have already been out helping!
